2022 Opening for two Experimental Postdoctoral Research Positions at Innsbruck
lundi 27 septembre 2021 18:55:30
We are looking for talented and motivated Postdocs to join our Dipolar Quantum Gases Labs (www.erbium.at) at the University of Innsbruck and IQOQI, Austria. It is now an exciting time to work with ultracold highly-magnetic quantum gases, thrived by the new control and interaction opportunities opened by ultracold erbium and dysprosium for quantum science.

We are currently searching for two talented and motivated post-doctoral research associates. Openings are for the following projects:

Postdoc@Er-Dy LAB: Quantum Gas Microscopy of long-range interacting Erbium and Dysprosium gas

Postdoc@Er LAB: Spinor physics and Supersolids with dipolar particles

Join us if you want to contribute in unveiling the unique opportunities of ultracold lanthanide atoms for quantum physics!

More: We will also soon have openings (PhD and post-docs) for our theory sub-division and our Rydberg tweezer project, if you are interested you are welcome to also pre-enquire about those possibilities.

We are looking forward to your application! If you are interested, send an email to francesca-ferlaino-group@uibk.ac.at, including a C.V., a letter of motivation, transcript of exams, and the name of at least one reference person.

Requirements: A PhD in Experimental AMO Physics (and ideal on ultracold atoms) is required, as well as knowledge on laser, vacuum and electronics technology. Our group is strongly committed to ameliorate the gender balance in Physics at all level of the scientific career, we therefore particularly encourage applications from women.

Continuous hiring: The application will be considered upon reception and until filling of the available positions with a flexible starting time from 11.2021 to 12.2022 (early deadline 30.10.2021).

Post-doc position: Junior and Senior postdoc status and duration will be discussed on individual basis.

The Dipolar Group is led by Prof. Francesca Ferlaino and it is jointly located at the University of Innsbruck (UIBK) and at the Institute for Quantum Optics and Quantum Information (IQOQI, www.iqoqi.at) of the Austrian Academy of Science. We work with the exotic and highly magnetic Erbium and Dysprosium atoms, either in the ground- or in highly excited Rydberg states. The group comprises four research teams, three experimental and one theoretical. Our three Labs works on Erbium and Dysprosium dipolar quantum gases, Er-Dy mixtures, and Er Rydberg Tweezers.
